Barcode Scanner

The barcode scanner feature enables rapid product lookup using barcodes. Two scanning methods are available.

#6.1 Camera Scanner

Uses your device's camera (laptop webcam, phone camera) to scan product barcodes.

1. Click the "Scanner" dropdown in the toolbar
2. Select "Camera Scanner"
3. Allow camera access when prompted by your browser
4. Point the camera at a product barcode

5. When a barcode is recognized, the product is automatically found in the grid and its quantity is incremented
6. You can also type a barcode manually in the text field below the camera feed and click "Lookup"

#6.2 Hardware Scanner

Works with USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner devices that simulate keyboard input.

1. Click the "Scanner" dropdown in the toolbar
2. Select "Hardware Scanner"
3. The hardware scanner mode activates — a status indicator turns green

4. Scan any product barcode using your hardware scanner device
5. The extension captures the scanner input, looks up the product, and increments its quantity in the grid
6. A notification appears confirming the product was found (or showing an error if the barcode doesn't match any product)
7. Click the scanner button again to deactivate hardware scanner mode

Note: Hardware scanner mode captures keyboard input globally while active. Deactivate it when you need to type in the search bar or other fields.
