10. How the QR code is chosen (5 national standards)
You never pick a format — the app reads your IBAN's country and picks the matching official national banking-association standard:
| Country | Standard | Currencies | BIC required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🇸🇰 Slovakia | Pay by Square (with the official "PAY by square" logo) | EUR, CZK | No |
| 🇨🇿 Czechia | QR Platba / SPD | CZK, EUR | No |
| 🇵🇱 Poland | ZBP 2D | PLN (EUR falls back to EPC) | No |
| 🇭🇺 Hungary | MNB HCT | HUF | Yes |
| 🇫🇮 Finland | EPC / SEPA (Finnish profile) | EUR | Yes |
| Other EEA/SEPA countries (e.g. DE, AT, FR, NL, IT, ES, PT, BE, IE, EE, LV, LT…) | EPC / SEPA / GiroCode | EUR | No |
| Non-EEA SEPA countries (GB, GI, MC, SM, AD, VA, MD, ME, MK, RS, AL) | EPC / SEPA / GiroCode | EUR | Yes |
Not covered by any standard: Switzerland (CH), Liechtenstein (LI), and Slovenia (SI). These countries have their own national QR specs (Swiss QR-bill, Slovenian UPN QR) that this app does not yet generate — an IBAN from one of these countries always falls back to plain text, never a QR.
A code from one country's standard will not scan in another country's banking apps — this is expected; each is a different national spec. If an order's currency doesn't match any standard available for your IBAN (for example a PLN order on a Slovak-only account), the app shows the IBAN, amount and reference as plain text instead of a broken QR.
