16. FAQ

General

Which PrestaShop and PHP versions are supported?

PrestaShop 1.7.0 and newer, including all 8.x and 9.x versions, with the PHP version your PrestaShop requires (7.1 or newer). New features are never held back for older versions: where PrestaShop 1.7 lacks something, the module uses an equivalent.

Does it work with my theme?

It works with any theme that outputs one of the standard positions displayAfterBodyOpeningTag, displayBanner or displayBeforeBodyClosingTag, including Classic (also on its checkout), Hummingbird and practically all commercial themes. The banners measure the theme on the page and position themselves next to the content. They do not depend on Bootstrap or jQuery.

Can several campaigns run at the same time?

Yes. Only one campaign is shown on a given page, so you can run, for example, a free-shipping campaign on all pages and a special offer on one category. See How the store picks a campaign.

Can I show different banners on the left and the right?

Yes. Untick Same as the left side under Content > More options. With Own image each side then has its own image, description and link. Designed banners share their texts on all placements.

Does a category campaign also appear in subcategories?

Yes, when Also subcategories is on (the default for new campaigns). Products show a category campaign whenever they belong to a selected category, not only when it is their default category.

Can I show only the bar, or only the side banners?

Yes, switch off the placements you do not need in the Content tab. Keep in mind that side banners do not fit on phones and many laptops; without the bar those shoppers see nothing. A campaign with only the bar can run as an announcement bar on every screen: tick Also on computers and tablets under Content > More options.

Content and design

Do I need a designer?

No. Designed banners are built from your texts and one of 12 professional styles. Use Own image only when you have ready banner images.

Which image formats and sizes are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (also animated) and SVG, up to 5 MB (less if your server's upload limit is lower; the editor shows the actual limit). Recommended sizes: 320 × 1200 px for side banners, 1280 × 200 px for the bar.

Does the module create the discount code?

No. It displays the code and lets shoppers copy it with one click. Create the cart rule in Catalog > Discounts.

Can I hide a campaign in the checkout?

Yes. In Where & who click Except on…, add Store pages and tick Checkout (and Order confirmation). If a module replaces the checkout, add its page under Settings > Advanced > One-page checkout modules.

Can I show a banner only to wholesale (B2B) customers?

Yes. In Where & who > Audience and conditions > Customer groups choose Only these and tick your wholesale group. To hide a retail coupon from B2B customers choose All except and tick the wholesale group.

Can the bar show how much is missing for free shipping?

Yes. Set Cart value under to your limit and write {remaining} in the text, for example "Add {remaining} for free shipping". See Where & who.

Can the button open the link in a new tab?

No, links open in the same tab, which is what most shoppers expect for links within the store.

Is the banner accessible?

The module helps you make it so:

  • Images have a Description for screen readers; the review warns when one is missing.
  • The Design tab checks the colour contrast against WCAG AA (4.5 : 1) and can fix it automatically. Hard-to-read designed banners cannot be published.
  • The close button, discount code and links can be used with the keyboard and have labels for screen readers.
  • A bar at the bottom never hides the end of the page.
  • Shoppers who reduce motion on their device see no entrance animation.

Languages and shops

How do translations work?

Texts, images, descriptions, links and countdown texts are stored per language. Switch the language at the top of the editor. Copy from … copies a complete language so you only need to translate. Links to products, categories and CMS pages automatically follow the shopper's language.

What happens in a language I did not fill in?

Shoppers browsing in that language do not see the campaign. The editor and the review list incomplete languages.

Do the templates exist in my language?

Templates are translated into English, Slovak, Czech, German, French, Spanish and Polish. Other languages receive the English texts to translate.

Does it work with multistore?

Yes. Each campaign runs in the shops you tick under Where & who > Shops. The storefront of a shop shows only its own campaigns, and the campaign list shows the campaigns of the shop selected in the back-office shop selector. Display settings follow the PrestaShop shop context. See Where & who > Shops.

Scheduling

Which time zone do the dates use?

Your store's time zone (International > Localization > Configuration), shown under the date fields.

What does "Repeat every year" do?

The campaign runs on the same dates every year, which suits holidays with a fixed date such as Christmas or Valentine's Day. Black Friday and Cyber Monday move every year, so their templates do not repeat: create the campaign again from the template next year, and the gallery fills in the new dates.

Does a campaign switch off by itself?

Yes. After its end date it disappears from the store and the list shows Ended. It stays in the list, so you can duplicate it or change the dates next year.

Statistics and analytics

What do the numbers in "Last 30 days" mean?

Views: how often a banner was at least half visible on a shopper's screen (once per page and placement). Clicks: clicks on a linked image or button. The percentage is clicks divided by views. Preview views are not counted.

Can I see the campaigns in Google Analytics?

Yes. Switch on Send events to Google Analytics 4 / Tag Manager in Settings. The campaigns appear in the GA4 Promotions report. See Advanced settings.

I use a page cache module. Is that a problem?

No. With JPresta Page Cache or LiteSpeed Cache the module loads the campaign after the page automatically, so every shopper gets the right campaign. For other caching servers choose After the page in Settings > Advanced > Page cache.

Does the module use cookies?

No. When a shopper closes a campaign, the module stores this in the browser's local storage (not a cookie) so the banner stays closed for the period you chose. With On the next page nothing is stored at all. No personal data is stored.

Upgrade

I upgraded from 2.x. Where are my banners?

In the campaign list. They were converted to campaigns with Own image content, and their images were moved into the media library. See Upgrading from version 2.x.

Does my 2.x custom CSS still work?

The storefront markup is new. The classes .fancy-baner-left, .fancy-baner-right and #mobile-ad-banner-wrapper still exist, but inner elements changed. Check your rules against Advanced settings.
